Anonymous asked: Halsey's derivative, but she deserves better than you are giving her. For a sensitive young teenager who doesn't quite know who "Biggie and Nirvana" are, or for someone who's struggled with anxiety and depression (as I have), her music is catharsis and can even be a gateway to edgier material. In a way, she nearly is the genuine article, even if it doesn't come across in her music; bisexual, biracial, bipolar. To demean her is to invalidate every teenage girl who finds comfort in her lyrics.
“Limp Bizkit’s derivative, but they deserve better than you are giving them. For a frustrated young teenager who doesn’t quite know they “Gotta have faith,” or for someone who’s struggled with anger and aggression (as I have via “breaking stuff”), their music is catharsis and can even be a gateway to edgier material. In a way, they nearly are the genuine article, even if it doesn’t come across in their music. To demean them is to invalidate every teenage boy who finds comfort in their lyrics.”
